Conclusions
The pharmaceutical market is changing rapidly and we may not yet know how it will look in a few years time. Portfolio Analysis is a tool to help ensure that companies are positioned to meet these challenges with greater confidence. Effective use of these tools
provides an agreed representation of the attractiveness of areas of research or development candidates
defines portfolio gaps and licensing opportunities
helps understand and manage risk
helps identify and get rid of losers early
improves decision quality
dissolves functional barriers while enhancing respect for individual specialisms.
