Pantoea ananatis infection
Description
Pantoea ananatis, a gram-negative, motile rod belonging to the family Enterobacteriaceae, is known as an emerging phytopathogen infecting a wide range of important crop and forest plants, and has been reported as an occasional clinical isolate. It has been considered a presumptive and opportunistic human pathogen that associated with septicemia following penetrating trauma with plant material, nosocomial infections due to exposure to contaminated hospital materials, and secondary complications of preexisting illnesses.
