Campylobacter infection is a diarrhoeal disease most commonly caused by Campylobacter jejuni. Campylobacter is a commensal microorganism of the gastrointestinal tract of many wild animals, farm animals, and companion animals, and it is responsible for zoonoses. The transmission occurs via the fecal-oral route through ingestion of contaminated food and water. Serious sequelae of Campylobacter infection are reported, including Guillian-Barre syndrome.
