Rift Valley fever is an infectious disease caused by Rift Valley fever virus (RVFV), a phlebovirus in the order Bunyavirales of -ssRNA viruses, and transmitted by Aedes and Culex mosquitoes. RVFV was first isolated in 1931 in Kenya.
