Properties

Yellow, hygroscopic, orthorhombic crystals. Sol in water. Keep well closed.

Properties

Blue to bluish-green tetragonal, rhombododecahedral crystals. d 2.0. Becomes anhydr at 110-120°; decomposes on stronger heating. Sol in water, alcohol, liquid NH3; the aq soln is acid to litmus.

Use

Analytical reagent; formerly for determining carbon in iron and steel.
