Properties
Leaflets from boiling water. Weak odor of cloves,
resembling that of eugenol. Spicy, pungent taste. mp 93-94°. bp760 250° (dec); bp14 138-140°. Slightly
sol in hot water. Freely sol in dimethylformamide, other organic
solvents. Sol in aq solns of KOH and NaOH.Use
Intermediate in the synthesis of estrogens.
