Prepd by dissolving sodium arsonoacetate and
sodium hypophosphite in 15% H2SO4: C. S. Palmer, J. Am. Chem. Soc. 45, 3023 (1923); Org. Synth. coll. vol. I, 73 (1941). Compare Arsonoacetic Acid.
Properties
Minute yellow needles, begin to dec at about 205°,
but do not melt below 260°. Practically insol in water and common
organic solvents. Readily sol in pyridine, dil sodium hydroxide and
dil sodium carbonate solns.Derivative
