Colorless, bitter tasting microcrystals, mp 97-98°. Freely sol in benzene, chloroform, ethyl acetate, acetone. Sol in water 0.5%. uv max (ethanol): 316, 306, 258 nm (ε 1.404 × 103, 1.492 × 103, 1.421 × 104). LD50 in mice, rats (g/kg): 2.34, 1.55 orally (Stormann).
