Originally an alloy of 69% Zn, 19% Sn, 4% Cu, 3% Sb, and 5% Pb. This name now covers a variety of formulations, such as lead base babbitt, silver base babbitt, tin base babbitt, cadmium base babbitt, arsenic base babbitt. Generally and better described as “white metal bearing alloys”.
