Description and references
Prepd from bismuth nitrate and gallic acid
in an acetic acid medium. The acetic acid may be replaced with a
glycol or mannitol: Pfeiffer, Schmitz, Pharmazie 5, 517 (1950).

Properties
Bright yellow, odorless, tasteless powder. Practically
insol in water, alc, chloroform, ether; sol in dil alkali hydroxide
solns, in hot mineral acids with decompn. Forms a water-sol sodium
salt which has an alkaline reaction.Note
