Ceylon; naturalized in Jamaica. Constit. 25-35% catechutannic
acid, 2-10% catechin; catechu red, quercetin, gum.

Incompat. Iron compds, gelatin, lime
water, zinc sulfate.Use
Tanning, dyeing fabrics brown and black; staining
wood; in toilet preparations.
