Description and references
Obtained by nitrating o-nitrochlorobenzene:
Borsche, Rantscheff, Ann. 379, 152 (1911); Hodgson, Dodgson, J. Chem. Soc. 1948, 1006. The mixture of
2,4- and 2,6-dinitrochlorobenzenes (of which the 2,4-compd is present
in largest amount) can be separated with an alkaline ethanol-water
soln: Molard, Vaganay, Mem. Poudres 39, 111 (1957). Toxicity study: H. F. Smyth et
al., Am. Ind. Hyg. Assoc. J. 23, 95 (1962).
