Properties

Monoclinic crystals; turns blue in moist air due to formation of dihydrate. mp ≈785° (N2 atm), 950° (HF atm); d 4.85. Soly in water (20°) 4.7 g/100 ml; hydrolyzed to CuFOH in hot water. May be stored in sealed glass ampuls.

Dihydrate.

Properties

Blue monoclinic crystals. Dec above 130°. d425 2.934. Slightly sol in cold water, hydrolyzed to oxyfluoride in hot water.

Use

Anhydr in cathodes in nonaq galvanic cells; high temperature fluorinating agent; dihydrate as flux in casting gray iron.
