Description and references
Prepd by reaction of CuSO4 with
oxalic acid: David, Bull. Soc. Chim. Fr. 1960, 719. Usually contains some water.
Properties
Blue-white powder. Loses any hydrated water by
200°; dec in air at 310° to CuO. Practically insol in water, alcohol,
ether, acetic acid; sol in NH4OH.Use
As catalyst for organic reactions; as stabilizer
for acetylated polyformaldehyde; in anticaries compositions; in seed
treatments to repel birds and rodents.
