Prepd by the action of carbon disulfide on trimethyltrimethylenetriimine: Delépine, Bull. Soc. Chim. 15, 891 (1897); from formaldehyde and methylammonium methyldithiocarbamate: Bodendorf, J. Prakt. Needles from benzene, mp 106-107°. Soluble in alc with decompn. Dec by water, dil acids. uv max (cyclohexane): 242, 289 nm (ε 7150, 9900). LD50 in rats, mice, guinea pigs, rabbits (g/kg): 0.32-0.62, 0.18, 0.16, 0.12 orally; in rats, rabbits, dogs (g/kg): 0.087, 0.127, 0.047-0.063 i.p.; in rabbits (g/kg): 7.1 dermally (Smyth).

Use

Soil fungicide, nematocide, weed killer; slimicide in paper making.
