Made by diazotizing aniline dissolved in HCl with NaNO2 and then adding a concd soln of sodium acetate: Hartman, Dickey, Org. Synth. coll. vol. II, 163 (1943).

Golden-yellow, small crystals. mp 98°. Explodes when heated to 150°. Insol in water. Freely sol in benzene, ether, hot alc.
