Colorless liq. d2020 0.8344. bp 184-185°. nD20 1.4300. Flash pt 81°C. Soluble in about 720 parts water, in many organic solvents. It dissolves about 2.5% its weight of water at 25°. LD50 orally in rats: 12.46 ml/kg (Smyth).

Use

Mercerizing textiles; as a solvent for dyes, resins, oils; also claimed to possess antifoaming properties.
