Several forms of this salt are known. Prepn from citric acid and Fe powder: Oroshnik, Haffcke, US 2904573 (1959 to Ortho); and ferrous salts: Carlson, US 3091626 (1963 to Scherer).

Properties

Powder. Practically insol in water, alcohol, acetone.

Triferrous dicitrate decahydrate.

Properties

Very slightly colored powder or white crystals. Very stable to air oxidation. If H2O is removed by vacuum desiccation, the dehydrated ferrous salt rapidly oxidizes to a ferric salt. Practically insol in water, acetone.
