Prepd by palladium reduction of deoxycorticosterone followed by treatment with succinic anhydride and formation of the sodium salt: Laubach, US 2708651 (1955 to Pfizer); Laubach et al., Science 122, 78 (1955).

Lyophilized, fluffy white powder. Dec 193-203°. uv max: 280 nm (ε 93.2). Sol in water, in mildly alkaline buffer solns, acetone, chloroform. pH of 2% aq soln 8.5-9.8.
