Properties

White, odorless granules or cryst powder. Poisonous. d 6.47. Dec by water into a yellow insol, basic sulfate and free H2SO4; sol in HCl, hot dil H2SO4, concd soln of NaCl. Protect from light.

Use

Electrolyte for primary batteries; with NaCl for extracting gold and silver from roasted pyrites. Determn of oxygen demand. Catalyst for Kjeldahl method. Reagent for wine coloring, barbital, and cystine.
