Properties

Crystals, mp 91°. Bitter taste. [α]D20 -95.3° (c = 2 in ethanol). Slightly sol in water (2% w/v), ether. Sol in alc (1:3), chloroform, benzene. pH of 2% aq soln 9.5 to 9.8. LD50 s.c. in mice: 0.540 g/kg (Kelentey).
