Properties
Yellowish-brown, amorphous powder with slight
characteristic odor. Aq solns have a pH near 2 and may be made more
neutral (but less stable) by the addition of sodium bicarbonate.
Sol in alc, water. Practically insol in chloroform, carbon tetrachloride,
ether, solvent hexane, acetone. Solns do not give the familiar starch
test when freshly prepared.Therapeutic Category
