Properties
Orange-needles from acetic acid. Odorless. Nonvolatile.
Sparingly sol in acetic acid. Dissociates in the presence of a bromine
acceptor, such as an alkene, to liberate one mole of bromine.Use
In small-scale brominations, where it is much more
convenient and agreeable to measure and use than elemental bromine.
