Properties
Colorless to yellowish, deliquesc, fused masses
or granules with bitterish saline taste; becomes yellow on exposure
to air and light due to liberation of iodine. Melts when rapidly
heated, at about 120°. mp 402° (anhydrous). d 4.42. Sol in 0.2 part water; sol in alcohol. The aq soln is practically
neutral. Keep well closed and protected from
light. LD50 i.p. in rats: 800 mg/kg (Cochran).Therapeutic Category
