Description and references
The article of commerce contains 65-75% SrS.
Strontium sulfide made by reduction of the sulfate is not luminous;
the luminous sulfide is prepared by heating strontium hydroxide with
sulfur.
Properties
Gray powder; has the odor of H2S in
moist air. d 3.70.
Slightly sol in water; sol in acids with decompn. Keep dry.Use
In luminous paints; as a depilatory.
