Dried rhizome and roots of Ferula sumbul (Kauffm.) Hook. f. (Euryangium sumbul Kauffm.), or of other closely related species of Ferula having a musk-like odor (Umbelliferae). Habit. Central Asia, East Indies. Constit. Angelic (sumbulic) acid, valeric acid, methylcrotonic acid, resin, 0.2-0.4% volatile oil.
