Description and references
Usually prepd by the action of antimony trifluoride
on thionyl chloride in the presence of antimony pentafluoride: Booth,
Mericola, J. Am. Chem. Soc. 62, 640 (1940); Smith, Muetterties, Inorg. Synth. 6, 162 (1960). May also be
prepared by the action of other fluorides on thionyl chloride: Kemmitt,
Sharp, Adv. Fluorine Chem. 4, 228-229 (1965).
Properties
Colorless gas. Suffocating odor. Does not attack
