Needles from ether, mp 66° (occurs also in lower-melting, unstable forms). bp 310-320°; d470 0.8730; d480 0.8663. nD80 1.43807. Saponification value 208.5. Insol in water. Practically insol in alcohol (0.0043 parts/100 parts of abs alcohol at 21°). Freely sol in ether, benzene, chloroform.
