Properties

Nonflammable needles; mp 49-50°; bp11 245°. Insol in water. Sol in benzene, chloroform, ether, acetone, moderately sol in alcohol.

Caution

Use

Noncombustible substitute for camphor in celluloid; rendering acetylcellulose, nitrocellulose, airplane “dope”, etc., stable and fireproof; impregnating roofing paper; plasticizer in lacquers and varnishes.
