Prepd by reduction of the anil (Schiff base) resulting from the reaction of benzaldehyde with sulfanilamide: Goissedet et al., C.R. Seances Soc. Biol. Ses Fil. 121, 1082 (1936).

Properties

Crystals from dioxane + water, mp 175°. Very slightly sol in water. Somewhat more sol in alc. Sol in acetone and dioxane. Neutral reaction. Breaks down in the body with the liberation of free sulfanilamide.
