Prepd by the condensation of equimolar amounts of camphorsulfonic acid and N-methylnikethamide: Lab. Lematte et Boinot in P. Lebeau, M. Janot, Traité de Pharmacie Chimique vol. 4, (Paris 1955-56) p 2471; by reacting nicotinic acid with methyl camphorsulfonate and treating with diethylamine: FR 812032 (1937 to Soc. Franc. Recherches Biochim.), C.A. 32, 1052 (1938).

Properties

Minute crystals, mp 174-175°. Slight camphor-like odor. Bitter taste with sweet aftertaste. Soluble in water, alcohol, ether. Insol in benzene, other hydrocarbons.
