Chem. 15, 162 (1950); by reduction of N,N-diethyl-β-methylcrotonamide with lithium aluminum hydride: Snyder, Putnam, J. Am. Chem. Soc. 76, 1893 (1954).

Liquid, aromatic odor, peppery taste. bp 210-212°, bp14 93-95°, bp5 77-78°. nD20 1.4422. d20 0.8764. One gram dissolves in about 25 ml water; sol in alcohol, ether.
