Properties
Liquid. Amine odor. bp760 185°; bp20 87-89°; bp5 66-69°; bp3 50-55°. nD20 1.4396. The pure, anhydrous material may be stored
in tightly stoppered bottles for several months. Storing under refrigeration
is recommended to avoid development of pressure in the bottles. Polymerization
takes place slowly during storage in an open container, or very rapidly
in the presence of acid or acidic compds.Use
Intermediate in the manufacture of β-alanine and
pantothenic acid.
