Tall, perennial, herbaceous plant, Angelica archangelica L., Umbelliferae. Habit. Europe, Asia. Medicinal parts are the seed, leaves and root. Constit. Root: Volatile oil (0.35-1.9%); more than 20 furanocoumarins including bergapten, angelicin, archangelicin, isoimperatorin, xanthotoxin; osthol, umbelliferone, flavonoids, sugars.
