The partially destearinated fixed oil expressed from fresh livers of Gadus morrhua L., and other species of Gadidae. Constit. Most important are vitamins A and D, each gram containing at least 850 U.S.P. units vitamin A (255 μg) and at least 85 U.S.P. units vitamin D (2.125 μg); glycerides of palmitic, stearic, etc. acids (19% saturated fatty acids; remainder unsaturated); cholesterol, batyl alcohol esters.
