Description and references

Salts of variable compositions of cupric sulfate and cupric hydroxide or oxide. Occurs in nature as the mineral dolerophane, CuSO4.CuO. Properties

Occurs in nature as the mineral brochantite; monohydrate as the mineral langite. Initial product formed during preparation of Bordeaux mixture, q.v., from CuSO4 and Ca(OH)2: Frear, loc. cit. Also prepd from CuSO4 and Cu(OH)2: Denk, Leschhorn, Z. Anorg. Allg. Chem. 336, 58 (1965). Very finely divided, light blue, gelatinous particles. Practically insol in water. Sol in plant and mineral acids, NH4OH.

Properties

Occurs in nature as the mineral antlerite. Blue-green, rhombic, bipyramidal crystals. Practically insol in water.

Use

Fungicide for plants, seed treatment.
