Ribonuclease inhibitor. Prepn from yeast ribonucleic acid: see refs under 2′-Cytidylic Acid. Prepn by pancreatic-ribonuclease-catalyzed ring opening of dicyclohexylguanidinium cytidine 2′,3′-cyclic phosphate: Lohrmann, Khorana, J. Am. Chem. Soc. 86, 4188 (1964). Crystals, dec 232-234°. [α]D20 +49.4° (c = 1 in water). [α]D25 +50.0° (c = 1 in aq NaOH adjusted to pH 10). uv max at pH 2: 279 nm (ε 13.0); at pH 12: 272 nm (ε 8.90). pKa1 0.8; pKa2 4.28; pKa3 6.0. Moderately sol in water; more sol than 2′-cytidylic acid.
