Properties

White to yellowish-white, odorless, bitter crystals, mp 267-269°. [α]D23 +25.7° (c = 0.5 in methanol). Freely sol in glacial acetic acid; sparingly sol in water, methanol. Practically insol in ethanol, acetone, chloroform, benzene, ether. LD50 in mice (mg/kg): 223 s.c.; 475 orally (Kasé).
