Properties

Chemical intermediate. Oily liquid; odor and taste as of chloroform. d420 1.1757; d425 1.1680. bp 57.3°: Mumford, Phillips, J. Chem. Soc. 1950, 75. mp ≈-98°. nD20 1.4167. Sol in about 200 parts water; miscible with alcohol.

Caution

Use

Solvent for paint, varnishes; degreaser. Has been used as a surgical anesthetic.
