An extract of Digitalis purpurea L., Scrophulariaceae, once believed to be a single amorphous compd, is a stable, relatively constant mixture of digitoxin, gitoxin, q.q.v., and gitaloxin (16-formylgitoxin, Cristaloxine) with smaller amounts of several other glycosides and genins, together with minute amounts of other substances.
