White or pale yellow crystals, mp 113-114°; dec 190°. uv max (anhydr ethanol): 288.5, 298.5 nm. Easily soluble in methanol, ethanol; very slightly sol in water. LD50 in mice: >3 g/kg orally and s.c.; 510 mg/kg i.p. (Seki, 1963).
