Properties
Long needles from petr ether. Weak aromatic odor.
mp 39.5-41.3°. bp1.0 210° (dec). d438 1.260 (liq); nD37 1.5685 (liq). Log P (1-octanol/water): 14. Very sparingly sol in water.
Slightly sol in petr ether. Sol in most other organic solvents.
Aq solns of emulsions adjusted to pH 7 to 8 show a blue fluorescence.
LD50 in mice, guinea pigs, male, female
rats (mg/kg): 98.5 ±5.0, 25.0 ±2.3, 42.0 ±3.1, 19.0 ±2.5 orally (Frawley).Use
Systemic insecticide, especially effective against
the Colorado beetle.
