Prepd by the action of formic acid on phenylbiguanide: Papini, Folena, Gazz. Chim. Ital. 80, 837 (1950); AT 168063 (1951 to Gedeon Richter), C.A. 47, 8097h (1953); from phenylbiguanide and ethyl formate in methanol in 67% yield: Overberger, Shapiro, J. Am. Chem. Soc. 76, 93 (1954).
