Prepd by the action of dimethylcarbamic acid chloride on 5,5-dimethyldihydroresorcinol: CH 272772 (1951); Gysin, US 2592890 (1952 to Geigy). Properties

Crystals from cyclohexane, mp 45-46°. bp11 170-180°; bp0.3 122-124°. Soly in water at 20° = 3.15 g/100 ml. Freely sol in alc, acetone, ether. Moderately sol in petr ether, gasoline, cyclohexane.

Caution

A cholinesterase inhibitor. Similar in action to physostigmine.

Use

Insecticide (aphicide).
